Where my heart skips a beat, sand sifts between my toes, and at midday, it's perfectly acceptable to Go for a Lime. And presently, as I've planted roots in the GTA, I call Toronto home.

After hours, I make it a habit to enjoy a little R & R. Behind closed doors, the rhythm of Afro-beats adds another layer to my day (& my soul). And as I cook up a tasty dish (which ALWAYS includes hot sauce), I'm thankful for each inspiring story that has touched my life.

My story began in British Columbia, where the Okanagan runs deep, the peaches are sun-kissed, and the mountain range cascades along the sky.

Over the years, I've spent many days outside of Canada learning life lessons visiting family in Jamaica or while working on the Island of Trinidad and Tobago – it's where I'm deeply rooted.

I Believe an Empowered Human is Uniquely Beautiful.

As the specks of sand sifted through my fingers on Maracas beach, it was clear, the purpose of each speck in the ocean is a powerful one and in life, we're all just specks of sand...

My desire to push through what holds us back. To do more, embrace life and help you figure things out to transform your life.

It's out-of-the-box guidance that puts my days as a Social Worker employee to shame. I ditched the bureaucracy and stuffy policies and hit the ground running as a Registered Social Worker to become the founder of Speck of Sand Counselling.

And now, I move to the beat of my own drum.

I'm overtly passionate about serving others, and I believe no one therapeutic method is one size fits all, and together, we can create change.

My experience extends to a wide range of communities. Still, I specialize in providing therapeutic services to Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) and other vulnerable populations like Child Sexual Exploitation/Human Trafficking.

It's a no BS, transformative approach: a collaborative, intuitive process that helps you navigate life's stressors, address trauma, build self-esteem, develop coping skills, and can inspire you to move forward and unapologetically be yourself.

Welcome.

A Strong Advocate with an Open Heart.

As I once sat with Esther…

The most valuable gifts (& teachings) in my life were from my grandmother, Esther.
She taught me to never treat anyone as less than.
Her lessons were simple and impactful:

  • Treat people as though you wish to be treated.
  • Build and embrace a strong sense of community.
  • Don't pretend to be something you're not.
  • Have an open heart and give love freely.

And when you're heart could use a mendin', find a person who will generously give their love and support.
